With the 8th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Atlanta Falcons select.....
Dallas Turner, EDGE, Alabama
The Falcons haven't had a pass rusher since John Abraham, and Turner is the highest upside pass rusher in this class. His freakish athleticism pushes him over Verse and Latu, for me. Turner looks like Brian Burns to me.
I think Latu is off the Falcons board altogether because Jimmy Lake (current DC) was the HC at Washington when they medically retired Latu.
Verse is the defensive version of the wide receiver who has "contested catch ability" at the top of the scouting report. I think he's going to struggle to get around NFL OTs, and NFL OTs will be able to handle his bullrush better than ACC OTs.

I'd always pick a Polynesian over a white or black American all else being equal.
They are just made differently and have tremendous motors and character.
Injury concerns make this an exception tho.

I say, if your time is coming up on expiration, go ahead and make the pick and note that the team(s) before you exceeded their time.
