Austin city limits vs Austin metro area are 2 very different things

Austin and BR are similar in The fact that both State capitals they're both flagship university towns( though UT vs LSU quality of life reputation...puhleeeease )and the climate is similar

past that they're two very very different cities and areas in the topography,the economy, the arts, demographics, crime .
all quality of life

BR has an affordability advantage but there's a reason

and outside City proper there's in no comparison CentTex is 1,000 times nicer :

It must have been paradise back in the '70s-'80s

Right on all counts - NOW. But back in the 1960's, not much at all separated the two cities or the universities. UT's academic reputation was transformed from the 1970's through about 1990, and John Butler's mentor, Dr George Kozmetzsky, was the linchpin of that.
