Serious question: is Austin nice if you’re middle class with a family?

That’s a good question.

I would wager that some high earners (like doctors) may actually be better off in Baton Rouge. Can probably afford a nice home in a nice neighborhood, belong to a golf club, have kids in private school and such. I don’t live in Austin but from what I have heard even high earners may find those things out of their price range.

So, as someone who just made this comparison. I am moving to Austin. It’s more than just cost of living. It’s opportunities and access as well. I am taking a small pay cut to move to a state with less taxes (from where I am at) and more growth and opportunity while still keeping my season tickets. This was a no brainer. If someone can change my mind please go for it.
