The exorbitant property taxes is a huge issue for the city of Austin and surrounding counties of Williamson and Hays.
I know several people paying over a thousand dollars a month in property taxes for homes that aren’t even 750k. They continue to rise every year.
The charm and allure of Rainey Street is all but gone with the mass increase of 40 story buildings.
The city has changed so much since 2019. Some of the great things are still palpable but a lot of the growth seems to hamper the quaintness it once had.
Nashville is very similar to Austin. Both cities I felt were more authentic 10-15 years ago. Now it’s more of a commercialized feel.
