Trump lawyer argues for presidential immunity.
He brings up these three examples.
1. Bush lied to congress to induce war with Iraq.
2. Obama ordered drone strikes to kill U.S. citizens abroad.
3. Biden induced foreigners to enter the U.S. illegally.

The case really boils down to official acts vs private acts.

Even Trump's attorney admitted there was no immunity for private acts, and the acts described in the indictment were private acts.
He'll still get his delay because SCOTUS is corrupt, but he didn't have any logic in his arguments.

The Supreme Court is not going to get into the debate of what action is “immune” vs what action is “not immune,” the court simply hates that stuff.
This unwillingness to get into the granular debate of statutory interpretation is the same reason why the court will not look at what the executive branch defines as “classified documents” vs “non-classified” documents. Once they open that pandoras’ box there would be a bazillion appeals for SCOTUS writ on the baseline of illegitimately denied FOIA requests. They ain’t going to touch it. Same applies here.
The Supreme Court is going to send this back to the lower DC court and tell them to hash out the issue of “private interest” acts, vs “official” acts. This is the core of the originating issue.
Was President Trump ensuring the integrity of an election outcome he considered sketchy (official act), or was President Trump trying to overturn the election by ensuring election integrity (private interest act).
That’s the question that SCOTUS is going to tell the lower court to battle out, and then the SCOTUS will weigh in if needed. The Supreme Court is going to send this case back down to the lower court for definitions of “official act” -vs- “private interest act” before they will touch the immunity issue.

Clinton lied under oath

Kind of a separate thread, but
Really isn't fair to Bush, despite all his faults. He was lied to and manipulated by our intelligence agencies to believe what he told Congress was true. There's plenty to shite on him over, but this one ain't it.

This court doesn’t care about oral argument in this case. They’re going to punt…

His lawyer is arguing that everything is ok if it’s “an official act.”
So Biden can do whatever he wants if trump wins this case.
It’s a dangerous strategy, no?

Of all the cases against trump the immunity argument is his weakest one.
Trump was using his office for private gain, to remain in power. He peddled conspiracy theories that vote tallies were incorrect and wanted Mike Pence to refuse to certify the vote based on that assertion.
He either really believes that, or surrounded himself with complete unpatriotic morons who screwed him over.
Either way, that was not an official act on behalf of the country.

Imagine living in a country where the govt, illegally put in place, can then use all their powers to prosecute their opponent at federal, state, local levels simultaneously, during an election to bleed him of finances, and prevent him from campaigning.
It worked for them in Pakistan, Brazil, and numerous other countries, why not at home?
Not only are they fabricated, in some cases they actually changed/enacted policies and laws to retroactively then make it illegal. The sexual charge in New York, the classified documents, where the DOD supersedes the presidential powers.
It really saddens me that we have skipped right past the basic rights of any American and instead are caught up in nebulous innuendo about court maneuvering and legal nonsense ad nauseum.
