Yes
I think the teacher has to exercise more restraint in that situation. I'm not saying he can't touch the kid at all. Maybe get the kid in a bear hug. But he punched the student several times and even hit him when he was on the ground and the threat was over.

But hell, I'm looking at it from my easy chair. Maybe I'd feel differently if I were teaching today. It's a jungle out there.

Eh if the kid laid hands on the teacher, the teacher should be able to defend himself, including kicking the kid's arse...

Both of these can get you fired.

Teachers are bailing because some kids (SPED) are basically untouchable.

We’d “No child left behind” is the Obamacare version of education. Hot garbage!
