There was an anti-gun poster here from Houston who used to advocate for duty to retreat. They'd say you should try to tackle an armed intruder instead of shooting them.

Kind of reminded me of that...

I'm really not of that mindset. But the assumption when a cop fires his weapon is that his life is in danger, or the lives of other citizens are in danger. The teacher's life was not in danger. No other student's lives were in danger. And his behavior after the student was on the ground shows that the teacher had lost control of himself. So my view is that the teacher lost control of himself and severely overreacted.
