No it isn't. Why do you fake arse "country " bros feel such a need to lie about this? I'm sure it sucked that your neighbors dog came onto your 1/2 acre "ranch" and killed both of your chickens, but there's nothing routine about shooting dogs over chickens.

I don’t know about chickens but ranchers have a different take. You have way too much money invested in cattle to have one get injured from a dog messing around with them. A buddy of mine has a farm dog and he explained that the ones that survive learn not to go over into his or especially his neighbors fields. It’s an unwritten rule that you don’t tolerate dogs with the livestock.

That was his take anyway. I wouldn’t have killed a dog over a chicken but if you grow up with ranching I imagine you have a different perspective.
