Tony Mandarich
Did you actually hate it at the time or did that hatred grow once he didn’t live up to his hype? Had the Packers picked anyone else there would they have been forced to clean house and restructure the organization? Pick Barry Sanders and they are going to be better. So no Ron Wolf, no Mike Holmgren, No Favre, no Reggie, no Super Bowl. Quite frankly, I’ve grown to love that pick of Mandarich more and more. The Lions got Barry Sanders and decades of utter trash football. The Chiefs took Derrick Thomas and it took them over 30 years to win a Super Bowl. The Falcons took Deion and they still haven’t won a Super Bowl. The Packers won one within a decade of the Mandarich selection.
If you want to be pissed about a Packers draft choice maybe you are too young to remember the Bruce Clark fiasco. That was pure stupidity on the Packers part. Then follow it up a year later by taking Rich Campbell. Picking Mandarich and having him not reach his expectations forced the shakeup that was needed in that organization. In the same era though there is one pick that stands out above all others as reason to be upset. Picking Terrell Buckley instead of Troy Vincent. There’s the one that should stand out.

Terrell Buckley was extremely hyped coming out of school as well. It was almost like you were guaranteed an All Pro CB if you drafted him.

At the time as there were rumors of his steroid use and I've never felt an O lineman, no matter how good, is worth that high of a pick when there are plenty of very highly rated skill players available.

Didn't like that either. It's like the Pack has avoided Badger players since Randy Wright.
eta-My brother was a TBuck fan and I was on the Vincent wagon. TBuck was too small for the pros.
