Alabama had a rep for MASSIVELY underachieving in basketball forever. Mainly due to basically trying to recruit instate, which is fine but Bama never went after the in state kids that Duke, UNC and UK were going after. Duke had a starter named Antonio Lang from Mobile that won 2 national titles and Bama didn't recruit him because they didn't think he would come. Bama desperately needed a coach that could see what Bama could be. Bama's large collective isn't hurting either. In todays world Bama doesn't lose Demarcus Cousins, Lang or Ben Wallace.

Ben Wallace

It is baffling this dude didn't get recruited out of high school, nor was he drafted.

Another football and basketball year like this one and they may have a rep for MASSIVELY dropping the ball in the final four.

The SEC is still licking their wounds after those beatdowns. fricking embarrassing. For the SEC and for Saban. Not for Bama fans as much because they have zero shame.

All of this. The state of Alabama has had plenty of good talent in the past that just didn't land in Tuscaloosa. Oats has a different mindset and it seems to be paying off. I'm a fan from the old public television days when you could see games during the week. Sorry about the link guys a description would have been nice.
