He explained in his post game that they didn’t have enough time to get Herring up and ready. Sounds like the plan was to get Kade through the first 12 batters and he was assuming since Jump dominated these guys, that Anderson was the one guy most similar to Jump. Like a few posters said, the shift giveth and the shift taketh away.

What really caught my attention is he said Herring had a pitch limit going into the game and he knew he would only get 4 or 5 innings out of him. Then he went on to say that Herring had hit his limit and was fatigued. I just found that interesting. For those that want to start Herring on Sundays, we better be damn sure that we have guys in the bullpen that can come in and finish the game bc he made it sound like Herring is a 65 pitch guy. I haven’t paid attention to his pitch count this year but it seems low from what I remember.
