Obviously there is far greater reward to raising progeny than having some shred of joy at the end of life. But I happen to believe that the greatest tragedy that can beset an intellectually honest person is to get to the end of one’s life and have nothing to show for it other than money wasted, cellphone videos from old concerts, and internet message board victories.

...and children who will eventually die makes your life more meaningful?
You may be emotionally weak enough to believe that the only way to live a meaningful life is to produce more life. I am not.
