Seemingly COVID would have been such an event. Instead we had the Summer of Riots.

Don't worry about it. No matter how many fools tell you otherwise, the real nutcase stuff is just not rampant over the continent. Fully 99% of the country is comprised of regular people who don't, or shouldn't have time to look for something to be outraged about. You sound like your life will be just fine.

It will NEVER merge back to a somewhat peaceful society. The damage is done folks. Your Obama votes did this to our country.

Conservatives will complain but not do anything

If they pull a fraternity prank like Jan 6 The Left will treat it like the Reichstag Fire and send them to the gulag

I do. It will only happen by way of a catastrophic, spontaneous, countrywide "bitch-slap".

The only things I can see that would have this effect would be either a nuclear attack, or a national grid attack. The former may accomplish some temporary national unity, but the latter....well, let's just say I've seen the case study up close (Katrina) and a national grid collapse would be the immediate end of this nation.

Not even just cultural anymore; Trump was right about “emptying their prisons “. There are tens of thousands of violent and sociopathic individuals now residing in this country. Try to cut off their Biden subsidies and ship them back out and they’ll go rogue. The prosperous and secure Nation that I grew up in is gone and ain’t coming back until a major collapse and reboot. I have no idea what that reboot will look like. Throw in AI and Quantum Computing and the sky is the limit. Hell as well.

If you think about it - there really isn't a divide like the media wants you to believe there is

Absolutely. There can be no sort of reasoning with people that tell you the sky is yellow. Up is down. Left is right. Evil is good. Men can get pregnant. The economy is great. Inflation is low. Hamas is the good guy. Ukraine is a beacon of democracy. No normal person can reason with the American left without compromising their character. None. Zero. Zilch. They are too far gone

It could all be fixed by going back to the Founders' intent. Give states their autonomy back and have the Federal government only handle the few things that they're actually supposed to handle. Eventually liberals and conservatives would self-segregate to states that aligned with their politics.

You’re right. And I thought my post sounded a little….. “just do this” type thing.

I understand people doing what they think they have to do to support their family. 100%

I was meaning that I am thankful to be where I am now in my life, mentally and physically. In regards to where I live.

As far as the other goes, they would get too bored out here pretty quickly. Nothing to tear up. Just leave a bunch of trash everywhere

There's a solution. Send all the ragheads and green haired weirdos to slave labor camps in the Artic.

The solution has existed for over 240 years. We just need to go back to being a union of sovereign states.

I mean, not really. All of my fiancé’s friends’ husbands are voting for Trump this time around even if they voted for Biden last time around. My own fiancé is highly considering it, regrets her 2020 vote for Biden (she now says that she wouldn’t have voted at all), but still has a bit of TDS where she doesn’t want to vote for the boar that Trump is even though she openly admits that he was a better President than Biden.

The tide is turning. There’s no way Biden wins this time around. Everyone is sick of the Woke’s bullshite, and even people that despise Trump will vote for him to stop this shite.

And if he does win we all know it’s rigged.

There is no solution. I want nothing to do with the other side. I don't even think of them as humans.

That’s a brilliant idea and I’m right beside you.

But how?

We clearly can’t do it federally from the ballot box.

We are too comfortable in our life…. Right now

A non politician with the idea of turning everything that we know about this society on its head and shaking it would be the only way to do that. And that would force people to get ready.

Or pray for an awakening.

The federal government will never as long as it is the way it is now will cede control. Why would they?

The communists and the Woke, agreed. But there are many good liberals that are simply misguided and they will vote for Trump or RFK. And if Trump chooses an appropriate VP (I’ll make a thread on it come Monday), they’ll vote for him willingly, to the tune of over 50%.

I used to think that something of such a magnitude would be the catalyst to unite the nation. I now believe that many here would cheer for it. And rather than uniting, the finger pointing blame game would take center stage over a focus on unity with both sides blaming one another for allowing it. And of course the Dems would blame Trump.

We are at the point where it is normal vs. crazy.

Mental illness is not a political opinion.

The normal will have to defend themselves against the crazies in a way much like Israel is defending itself against Hamas.

The divide in some states is so vast that politics determines who goes to jail and who doesn’t anymore. The average voter in Mississippi is so different than the average voter in California they might as well be on different planets. Also the fed gov is essentially a criminal enterprise.
