Warning this is a Guardian link.

quote:

There were hundreds of counter-protesters, in contrast to the few dozen pro-Palestine protesters. The scene evoked memories of the resistance to the civil rights struggle in the US south six decades earlier.

quote:

The counter-protesters included individuals waving American flags and Trump flags. At one point, they sang the American national anthem, drowning out the pro-Palestine group’s chants.

The article ends with this whopper.

quote:

But as we’ve seen throughout history, time and time again, the student movement is never wrong,” he told the paper. “Time and time again, anytime there’s a student protest, and you’re against it, you’re on the wrong side of history. So I would like to be on the right side.”

Probably a higher percentage of students in the counter-protest than the protest itself.

Definitely MORE student given the turnout from both.

Curious that the pro Hamas folks are on the side of the CCP concerning Tiananmen Square protests.

Then they're all fine with brutal totalitarianism.

The most "stupid" comes from the journalists that write this crap..

Most falls on deaf ears because no one bothers to read the filth. Main problem with all of this? The Journalists are educated by the same people on the wrong side ........the few protestors without a solid justifiable cause....

This argument that the student movement is never wrong keeps coming up by different people on the left, like Joyles Reid. This implies that everyone should step back and do whatever these students ask. These students make up 1% or less of the student body and are funded by dark money. This is not a grassroots movement. It’s a well-funded and organized effort. People need to start asking why the DOJ is not investigating where this money comes from and who uses the small student population to hide behind.

You mean by blocking entrances to college buildings. I can see the similarities. Don’t think the author thought that through.

Well I see 2 student movements in opposite directions.

One of them is going to be wrong.

So that theory is now destroyed.

You're welcome.

Consider these protests are designed to disrupt or even interrupt the universities. How many minority students are impacted? How many black students can’t attend class because of the anti-Israel protests? Maybe they should do like was done in the 1960s and use law enforcement to ensure all students have access to an education.

So, I guess we need to flip a coin to see what group of students are never wrong this time.

This is the product you get when you are taught what to think rather than HOW to think!

Probably? They outnumbered them 15 to 1. Fraternity Row is a five minute walk away, so that was dumb as shite to protest there.

They initially wanted to take over the Circle, but those idiot commies couldn’t get enough people to even surround the flag pole and really would have been gang banged since there’s not another building for a hundred yards and would have been destroyed from all sides.

Well I don't know if that's true or not but I do know they were right on about Vietnam and Apartheid.

Now if conservatives and liberals could put away their political tribalism when it comes to Israel they would see they have much more in common on this issue than either side wants to admit.

No reasonable person endorses terrorism or the Hamas cause but at the same time, I understand aspects of this Anti-Jewish/Anti-Israeli backlash.

The problem with the Left is this. These protests have drowned out their ability to reasonably and fully articulate their criticism of Israel. And the problem with the Right is they can hear no criticism of Israel at all, despite the fact that the Right has for years decried the Jew as a usury driven, money grubbing controller of Hollywood, the mainstream media and our political systems. But now Conservativism loves the Jew and all he stands for.

This proposed legislation that attempts to criminalize hate speech against Jews and Israel should scare us all and the simple discussion of such legislation should illustrate to everyone the immense power Jews have in American policy making.

The right and left have common ground here.

I'm not Anti-Jew or Anti-Israel. In fact, even though I don't believe Israel will finish what it's started, I hope they do.
