Whatever happened to new cars that shut off at red lights? A few years ago, all new cars had that 'feature. Both myself and my girlfriend and have cars bought in 2019 and neither even have the ability to do that.

I'm glad because I thought it was stupid and would have disabled it, but I've noticed that I don't hear other cars doing it at red lights very often these days.

Federally mandated now, all new cars have it. There are aftermarket defeat switches that turn it off permanently, and you can turn it off manually each time you get in the car.

Nearly every new car does this. Most have a button you push so it won’t. You can also just not fully depress the brake, but still enough to hold car still..and they won’t do it.
