I love me some Reed - he can be annoying, but Gdamn does he get into some storms

Reed is probably the perfect archetype of a storm chaser. He's a legit meteorologist, he isn't married and doesn't have kids, and (I know this sounds grim) he seems to have made peace with likely dying in a tornado at some point, so he has zero fear. It is all love and adrenaline for Reed.

I generally like Reed but he is a gigantic enigma

I also have no idea how he isn't dead

Reed is the person that really got me interested in weather in general. We don’t have to deal with tornados much around here, but they still fascinate me.

I hate that the lessons that should have been learned that day seem to have been forgotten by way too many chasers.

I was just looking at the Mil traffic trying to see if anyone was bugging out. Have to think that Tinker and Vance would do the same, right?

First tornado watch of the day has been issued for parts of north-central Kansas and central Nebraska. The earliest action today should be in this area.

If I go missing today it is because I have been carried off by cicadas. They are everywhere. I counted close to fifty a bit ago just in my front bushes, and I didn't even look all that closely. Shells are hanging on everything.

I may be deaf by the end of Spring when they start singing.

Wife is trying to talk me out of it. not really worried about the trip going, it's coming back tonight that might get hairy.

There’s probably a lot of people on this forum thinking about doing that so thanks for looking out.

I'll probably be one of them.

NWS Norman
@NWSNorman

We did a briefing for close to 400 of our emergency management and television partners. We thought it would be good to share some of the key point we discussed with them.

FYI,

OKC has road cameras so if it gets dicey here then you can sometimes see some cool video. Here’s the link: (note, they have an app but this works without the app)

LINK

They have less on the west side though, which is where it would likely come from.
