I’m in Moore. Got the straight line winds. Power poles down in the area. No power. Some damage nearby. Will assess in the morning.

Is that what the sirens sound like in OK? Like a loud buzz saw? That’s actually more annoying than our post apocalyptic sirens.

I’m glad yesterday did not seem to reach its highest potential/ceiling. Obviously this event still caused plenty of problems, though, particularly the Barnsdall tornado.

I greatly appreciate these thread. You get better weather information on these threads than you'll get from the mainstream news. This morning, Foxnews had nothing on the lead page about the tornadoes (CNN did, however).

It is often as if you have a trained meteorologist at your house explaining how these storms develop and are acting.

Thank you gentlemen.

reading the scales again and looking at the videos it seems like they may have a time trying to decipher between 4 and 5 on this one.

I think another significant factor in the determining the rating will be the quality of the structures that were hit.

This.. I agree. My uneducated opinion is saying an EF4 based on most of the cars standing upright and some bark left on the trees, but some of the damage is catastrophic, so it could be close to an EF5. I imagine it will be a little bit harder since it happened at night as well.

Either way, it was something strong and powerful, and something you would never want to experience first hand.. well unless your name is Reed Timmer. That guy is crazy.

I've always wondered. What are the home owners insurance options like in these high risk states like Alabama, Kansas, Oklahoma etc. that constantly experience Tornadoes . They seem to get tornadoes more often than we experience hurricanes. Yet it feels like the southern states are punished more.
