If they don’t have the pitching to sweep an SEC series they don’t have the pitching to win a regional. So what’s the point?.

Young guys getting additional ABs in the pressure situations against high quality pitching. That is part of development. Idiot.

And I will be pulling for them, but those losses against Auburn and Missouri could end up being a factor. We'll see.

Google 2011 LSU baseball. Missed post season with 13-17 record. 14 wins is the threshold. 13 is not automatic.

We have enough pitching to compete in 2 games and will have to win at the plate with hitting in the rest of the games.

If lsu makes a regional. They will have to win first 2 games and win in final to have a chance. Lose g1 and it's over, lose g2(winners bracket) it's over.

This team would have lost to Oregon State in the regional last yr.

SEC teams with 13 wins have a 38% chance of making it according to the stats showed on espn

Best option might be to win first 2 and basically punt game 1 of the finals to get your elite bullpen guys back on Monday. Unless Holman or Jump throw a CG or something

A lot of that 72% are teams that didn’t make the SEC tourney when only 8 made it. I’d like to see the stats from the past few years and not since 2000

SEC week in week out is tougher than a regional. That was the #1 team in the country we just beat 2/3. Playing in a regional like Oklahoma’s would be one of the easier weekends we’ve had if you compare that to the last 8 weeks of conference play.

Yeah, that too. It sucks that we had to use 4 guys to win 2 games but ill take it. I guess we were out of reliable pitching. aTm is decent. This weekend at Bama will be the biggest series of the year. Have to win 2 or it's over if we don't sweep ole piss.

13-17 with an RPI of 23 had us out in 2011. Never assume anything. Just win, baby.

Get to 13 first before worrying if it’s enough.

The 2011 team didn’t play in the SEC tourney either and this team will get the opportunity to get additional wins that way

Win your first two games in a regional, then worry about pitching. Teams coming out of loser's bracket will be throwing even shittier pitching

There’s other factors to consider if 13-17 gets us in but Vanderbilt and Florida both have tougher series remaining than us. Were 1 game back of UF in 9th place and 2 games back of Vandy in 8th place. If we can go 4-2 getting us to 13-17 and Vandy and UF have losing records then we’re absolutely in. There will be at least 9 SEC teams in a regional.

Vandy
v. UT
@UK

Florida
v. UK
@UGA

UK just won a series angainst Arkansas and are alone in first place. LSU just has to handle their business and win these last 2 series and they should be ok with 5 straight series wins and a top 30 RPI.

The SEC Tournament is literally worthless in terms of helping, or hurting, your chance if getting into the NCAA’s. It’s meaningless.

The same Ole Miss that went 13-17, went 0-1 in the SEC tournament, they were in. A few years ago, LSU and Georgia finished both 13-17, with almost identical rpi’s. LSU played Georgia first game of the SEC tournament. Georgia beat LSU. LSU made the NCAA’s, Georgia sat at home.

Just beat NW State on Tuesday night. Then worry about Bama.

IMO, we are going to need 14 SEC wins (including in SEC Ty) to get into the NCAA Ty as a #3 seed.
