So many cops just aren't very smart and I'm not sure if there's a way to fix that.

Poilceman has become a low-wage, extremely low prestige profession. Most of the good ones have left the job entirely. There is no going back.

I can personally attest it's no different in St. Tammany Parish. 90% of the force there are meatheads who barely passed high school and carry themselves like they used to kick doors down overseas. They LOVE escalating whatever situation they're in and putting their hands on you if they get the chance.

A proposed state law would make it a misdemeanor crime for anyone to be within 25 feet of any law enforcement officer while they’re conducting “law enforcement duties.” That would make the manner in which Johnson filmed his mother’s arrest illegal.

Yeah, that's unconstitutional.

Half the trouble in the World would end overnight if people would just mind their OWN business.

This is the real problem once it partners with black ghetto culture.

$185,000 in damages after finding that a deputy inflicted emotional distress while Johnson attempted to film his mother’s arrest.

This is such horseshite and so disgustingly prevalent. If there are real, tangible damages that can be directly tallied, then that's one thing. "Emotional distress" and then making up a number to pay someone doesn't ring like "justice" to me. It creates the over-litigious society we live in where everything is sensationalized for money grabbing purposes.

I hate that this money will come from the taxpayers.

Perhaps not all of it. Most Sheriffs belong to the Louisiana Sheriff's Municipal Association wherein they buy an insurance company for their department equal to the Cap on General Damages outlined by the legislature. So, sheriff will likely have to pay the deductible and the association's insurance will likely cover the rest.

And who do you think pays the insurance premiums? Taxpayers.

Violating someone's first amendment is pretty prevalent. SCOTUS has ruled photography is not a crime and you can film the police from public.

This has already been overturned in multiple jurisdictions.

Yeah I’m sure innocent little 14 year old De Shaun and his mom were just calm and respectful to the officers who were on scene. I’m sure they didn’t get loud or disrespectful at all. I’m sure his mother set a great example on how to behave. What a joke! 185 grand because little De Shaun got upset. Or pretended like he did. So what??!! Man up and go on with your day. Freakin jackpot justice makes me wanna puke. Whenever something doesn’t go how they like, they go running to a lawyer or daddy government. After all, government is their substitute parent. They’ll probably never see a dime and I hope they don’t. And if they do I’m sure it’s already spent on a Mercedes rather than lil DeShauns college.
