Lucille Ball, Tina Fey, Joan Rivers, and Cloris Leachman are straight up hilarious. Others can be if the movie role is written well for them.

It's very similar to women in sports. When they're trying to "get hype" or pump up the crowd. It seems fake. For guys comedy is huge for assimilating into a group, and like others have said for landing a woman. The women I mentioned up top were all time greats at setting up the jokes and knocking them down.
