He's a freshman in HS and he hasn't shown much interest in anything that makes sense? 
Don't worry, he'll discover girls soon.
Jeez dude, let him figure out a few things in high school first before talking him out of any future. Yes, trade schools are good, but I wouldn't talk my kid out of getting an engineering degree for it.
