Liberals have killed that poor organization.

Self sufficiency, community and responsibility just couldn't be taught without them treading their Marxist principles right through the middle.

BSA Executive: How do we shed our image of being perverted, sex-obsessed pedophiles?

Outside firm: Allow openly gay men to watch children and let girls go on overnight campouts with boys. Oh, and change your name.

BSA Executive: Sounds great!

But do the girls become the collateral damage due to the cookie cartel?

Our troop is 200+ and managing the separate girl troop was not as hard as you think.

well, I don’t care - our troop leaders don’t want to deal with the girls, the priest at the church was fine with it (the church holds the charter), and I think it’s great that our troop goes out and does boy stuff together with just boys

Although at district events - the council favors the girls

At camporee last year a girl squealed bc there was a snake in the boat - she and the other Girl Scouts wouldn’t go near the boat until the snake was gone - my oldest son got it out the boat

That’s Boy Scout material?

I don’t like it bc it sets a precedent that girls can do anything boys can do - and in many respects we can - but we need more MEN not women that can do male things

I’ve seen boys run away screaming from the same thing. I’ve also seen boys harass and mistreat the girls running the camp store. Is that Boy Scout material? FAIL is an acronym, first attempt in learning. The kids need to have the coaching and mentoring the program offers. We need to step up and provide it no matter the sex.

Unfortunately most of these people complaining were not putting their boys in the program. You can’t bitch and complain about the program changing when it was not supported in a sustainable way. If it was still running like it was years ago, they wouldn’t need girls to keep it going. These older families failed it, now we are going to keep it going.

I don’t care about this at all.

The patrols are segregated not co-Ed and the standards aren’t relaxed or modified for girls.

If a girl can do all of the requirements then good for her. A buddy’s daughter got her Eagle and is going to the Airforce Academy - she earned every bit of it.

One. Extensive background checks, sexual assault /predator training and certification are required before becoming a leader.

Two. Boys and girls are separated on campouts.

Some of you are being absolutely fricking ridiculous.

Even when I was a child I thought the Boy Scouts was gay. Turns out I wasn’t wrong.

I thought Cub Scouts was boring when I was a kid. My son tried it and he was also bored. And he didn’t love that there were so many girls. He wanted it to be just boys and their dads camping and doing adventure shite. Boys can’t even have that anymore.

This isn’t the marines. Nobody cares about standards. It’s about the camaraderie amongst boys. They don’t get that at school, which is a very feminized atmosphere, and now they don’t get that with scouts.

Girls win all the camporee competitions- the judges are too easy on the girls

The girls rightfully won cooking, but knots?

I did a full 2 week hike at Philmont. Every now and then you’d run into a girl patrol but it was all separated.

At our district wide winter campout they had a girl win the shooting competition. She shot a legit 0.5" group with 5 shots at 25 yards. After wards I got to see the target, and all of her shots were touching each other. I think her dad takes her to the range quite a bit. I'm guessing there were 200-300 scouts at the event?

Open Society groups are a large part of this

Their entire existence is to destroy gender barriers, destroy religion and cater to immigrants.

You do know that once you hit troop level that the sexes are separated, right?

It does not matter what the curriculum states. I am talking about how events like campouts are coordinated.

Because there are fewer girls - the administrative (volunteer) parents spend an inordinate amount of time catering to the needs of the few.

When you finally get two moms who will commit to going on a camp out - one has a family emergency and can’t go. Then you can’t only go with one mom because you have to have two adults at all times. (Good rule to keep out the pervs).

So guess what??

The entire campout gets modified or cancelled.

But that is just my opinion from a decade in local Boy Scout leadership including Scoutmaster. Maybe I don’t understand how girls in Boy Scouts is better for everyone.

Maybe the hundreds of young men that I tried to challenge and encourage their character development don’t need it. Don’t need to: learn how to take care of yourself, your environment, and your fellow man. How to be a leader. How to love unselfishly. How to develop a clear vision and not let hardship deter you. Some of these principle apply to both sexes but there are no organizations speaking to the heart of young men. We think differently and need to learn differently.

I left scouting when I had a district representative tell me it was not a good idea to pray with these young men. I let them know every lesson I taught was rooted in truth and my only motivation was for their benefit.

My man, just remember the Scout Oath & Law

Re-read much of what you type……..

Ftr, our girl troop (separate from boys - this isn’t co-Ed) members are quite impressive. And, I know many MEN who squeal at snakes.
