I assumed he had a small transparent fence near the pool and this was more for privacy along the property line.
You could also install a fence and a shrubbery. 8’ fences are so tall and gaudy.

We went 8' for a privacy wall/fence. The section where our driveways are about 2' apart I went wood on wood to cover spaces. We also went 1x6x8 treated boards with even flat top instead of standard pickets. Looks better

Privacy is main concern
I looked at doing shrubbery but that wouldn't be offering privacy for a couple years I'd imagine.
