NBA players are the best athletes on the planet. But it's a different skill set to do what they do as opposed to NFL players. Different muscle groups, etc.

No they aren’t. They have freak measurable physical traits.

Saquon Barkley ran a sub 4.4 at 220 lbs and has more lateral agility than any single player in the NBA. He can also squat over 600 lbs. can any single player do that in the NBA? And he’s prlly not even in the top 5 of freak athletes at his position in the NBA. Safeties and corners start and stop ability, lateral movement, vertical jump (relative to height is likely on par with NBA guys, NBA guys are just taller), top end speed, ball skills while running full speed, and then have to step up and tackle someone like Saquon Barkley coming at them full speed.

NBA guys don’t even know how to throw a fricking baseball.

MLB caliber middle infielders and centerfielders are better overall athletes than NBA guys.

The frick?

Skill, not an athletic trait.

What do you suppose an elite middle infielder would shoot from 3 in the NBA? Unless they're shooting from Steph Curry range, they may not get a shot off.
