You can stand on your morals with this if you want. But when the other schools you're competing for a title with are doing it, you better have a plan in place for how you're gonna close that talent gap to keep up. And it looks like we didn't account for that at all.

None of the DTs we whiffed on are even in the realm of what most would consider to “close the gap” with the big boy 5 star DTs that Bama, UGA, OSU regularly recruit… no one in their right mind was going to pay them the money they wanted except pathetically desperate programs like OU and Miami. Texas, who has the most money to throw around in all of CFB didn’t even want to match what OU was paying. If a Glenn Dorsey like player jumps in the portal, maybe you consider it… but that was not the case

To "close the gap" you need depth. LSU has zero depth. Guillory and Lee are below-average players, Shone is unknown, and then you have freshmen who cannot be relied on.

One portal DT wouldn't "close the gap" but two or three would have.

CBK's refusal to play the game is embarrassing and will lead to losses in the fall.

Remember this interview when the dline is being dominated

I agree with this, but...Oklahoma and Miami were desperate because, like us, they mismanaged the DT position. CBK should have never let us get into a position where we were reliant on the second spring portal to bail us out. The second spring portal is full of processed guys and depth players who are looking for a payday like they matter.

So for CBK to turn around and say, "I'm not going to play that game" when he put us in position to have to play that game is concerning.

We are where we are. Our DL room is the worst it's been in two decades. Bo will have to earn his paycheck this year. Let's hope McKinley is a stud and hope the coaches redouble our efforts on the 2025 class and get some studs (so far 0 DT commitments but it's early).

Some people on here really thought if lsu landed demonic Williams then lsu would be in the championship picture.
