Not going to go into details because I don't want to cause local drama, but my nephew wasn't necessarily helped much by his hs coaches. But talent and skill win out.

I don't think public school coaches are actually paid to do this. In sports that have significant club sport presence, they're usually the least qualified coaches, and should be treated as such.
