He makes a ridiculous amount of money to be a good 3rd. I wouldn’t even be so hard on him if he wasn’t so damn useless in the playoffs. If we could have stolen game 1 and he shot say 33ish% from 3, I could excuse it. But 9-40 in the entirety of the postseason is just wow. Guarantee you could have given Dyson 40 3 point shots in the postseason and dude would have made more than 9

If Dyson took the same 3s a CJ, he'd be lucky to make 4 out of 40.

He really doesn’t, he makes far less than his max salary. His salary puts him as the 40th highest paid player in the league next season, that number will be around 50 once the season actually starts, so his salary is pretty much right in line with his production.

And if BI was a better fit, then CJ would be in line to be moved unless they are prepared to be a heavy tax team. If they swap BI for another high priced player, say KAT or Donovan Mitchell, CJ is likely gone. But if they turn BI into a $30 million or less player instead of a near $50 million player, CJs money isn't the biggest deal in the near term.

I certainly would not make that bet, and I'm one of the more pro Dyson people here.

CJ has been disappointing when he's been asked to be #2, but he's been amazing when all you ask him to do is shoot and score off ball. You might let him go for money reasons at some point, but if the difference between one of the best 3 point shooters in the league, and a disappointing 3 point shooter is having enough play making depth, maybe we should try to add more play making depth before throwing out the baby with the bath water.
To me the biggest dilemma with CJ, assuming the money/tax doesn't force the team's hand, is Hawkins. I think Trey needs to take CJ's place in the starting lineup, and by next trade deadline at the latest you probably need to trade CJ to get Hawkins minutes if you have any hope of him developing.

He really doesn't. He'll be like the 45th highest paid player this year after some extensions for other guys.
