Walljasper threw 236 pitches in a 19-inning game in 2018 and was fine. She didn't pitch the next day, though.

In the old days, we used our #1 pitcher as much as we could. Softball doesn't create the strain on the shoulder as baseball, but the elbow and wrist can be vulnerable depending on the spin and snap of the pitch.

As we started getting a greater number of good pitchers, having a staff was a good thing. Berzon could definitely go again tomorrow, but I doubt Beth does that as she likes having a staff
