had he gotten the BAMA job

you have to be offered a job to get it. Dabo would/shoudl have been choice number like 10-15 on bama's list and it never would've gotten that far. Dabo is by far the most overrated coach in the game today. I've posted the full stats countless times and don't feel like searching for them again but Dabo is essentially a worse version of mark richt in a weaker conference, that jsut so happened ot have two "generational" (although I hate that term) QBs almost back to back. Without a 1st overall pick bonafide NFL starter at QB he has done practically nothing. In fact, there was a 1-year gap sandwiched in between deshaun/trevor, and in that year they managed to lose to an 8-loss syracuse team and got shellacked by bama and didn't even score 7 points.

Dabo at bama would have been glorious for all onlookers but would have been an utter disaster for both bama and him.

I agree 100% with this, additionally he had a great DC (Venables) and a steady stream of NFL ready D-linemen

A solid and astute point. Georgia under Kirby has also taken out a key pipeline into the state that Clemson was utilizing beforehand.

Also, I’m usually not one to subscribe to “sign stealing” rumors but when almost every coach they played in the ACC has publicly verified Clemson was notorious for stealing signs — and then their run of success comes to a screeching halt once this was public knowledge — kind of hard to ignore.

Identifying and bringing in two generational QB's is something he did in fact accomplish though.

Dabo is a pretty good recruiter, especially when you consider Clemson isn't a destination school. And he's done solid to extremely well at hiring good assistants and keeping them for long periods.

Having just those two things is enough to have a lot of success in the college game and Dabo has had that. However his hatred of the transfer portal/NIL stuff is wiping out the edge he had with his ability to recruit.

I would never hire Dabo as an OC. He doesn't have those skills. But he's a top tier pre-NIL head coach. He's not adjusting to NIL well at all.
