I’ve wanted a full Maine Coon cat my whole life but can’t bring myself to buy a cat. Cats come from the pound

Every cat I ever owned just showed up as a kitten.

Mine was a stray and came pre-spayed. My neighbor trapped her about 6 years ago and brought her to the vet for one of those $1 spay or neuter deals.

That’s how you’re supposed to get cats. We don’t have strays bc of all the bobcats. People bring all the kittens to the no kill shelters instead of just leaving them outside to become strays and get eaten by bobcats or coyotes. It’s probably been 20 years since I’ve seen a stray animal except the bunnies who live in my back yard and they are only safe bc I put up Predator Eyes to keep the bobcats from jumping our 8’ fence again.

I don't know how mine didn't get eaten at my old place. I saw numerous coyotes there.

I did remotely adopt a possum that I see at night on the cameras.

That's all I got.

Start giving him some of those leftovers, t00f. You can name him Bitey.

So he just hasn't made a visit while you are putting a brisket on the smoker?!

You need some crows to adopt you.

Should have named him Lucky Bastard like my stepdad nicknamed my cat when I was little.

No way, soon I’ll have a brood in the backyard.

We did. There was this female crow we would see in the morning in the back while drinking coffee. She would sit at the top of one of the house and bark orders to the male. They would run around doing what she told. Was quite amusing. Have not seen her in awhile though. I suspect they took her bossy arse out.

You knew it was a female by the RFR demeanor, huh.

I don’t know if our crow has adopted me or Lulu. It only stands above my head and yells at us when Lulu is outside.

Maybe. The cackle was a higher pitched voice. I don’t see female crows brining food to male crows happening.

I have heard a similar cackle in other places besides the back yard FWIW

All I have are the trashy marsh crows over here. Now there are a bunch of other species around. There's a Mississippi Kite and an osprey that hunt around here. I usually see the osprey carrying a fish and the kite spends its day trying to catch birds for dinner.
