I believe he is referring to the old 9-Span Bridge in Hammond Indiana that was demolished in 2013. It was apparently the longest bridge over land in the world when it was built in 1937. The cost to build the bridge was a mere $750,000. It went over Gibson Rail Yard-the largest automobile traffic switching operation in the United States.

I think they recently built a pedestrian bridge where it used to be.
