You clearly aren’t paying attention.

Let’s start with 98% of Democratic politicians and 85% or so anyone who votes for Democrats and work up from there.

I hope they program the 18 wheelers to be as big of assholes as the ones IRL..or at least program every 5th or 6th one thar way.

Road trips just wouldn’t be the same.

If the technology is guaranteed to work perfectly every time, I would not object but not sure that is possible.

who wouldn't support self driving autos? There's a lot of resistance to EV for obvious reasons, but I never hear anyone complain about self driving. that's a great idea

You can’t back any of this up. I drive an F150 and I’ve never felt threatened. Maybe you’re too sensitive.

Do you need help finding group therapy to let out your feelings?

So we could hate idiots who put their faith in an easily misguided and confused computer system and in turn blame it for an accident that could have easily been avoided? You are a moron if you woke up thinking you had a good point with this thread.

I saw one in Phoenix. Navigated itself into a construction dead end and couldn't figure out what was wrong so it just quit. Great idea to put your safety in the electronic hands of something utterly defeated by a road cone.

Where did he say anyone is being "forced" to buy an EV? He didn't and your attempt at framing the argument that way is just a strawman.

What he said was non-ICE policies are being forced down our throats. The whole idea behind those policies is to eventually hamper the ICE industry to the point where eventually all consumers have left to choose from are EVs. These policies range from things like banning large swaths of federal lands and waters from exploration/drilling (causing oil and gasoline prices to rise) to mandating ever-increasing CAFE standards to the point of eventually being unattainable for ICE vehicles.

No it’s not. You have a choice to buy an ICE vehicle.

So shite, Sherlock. But if you don’t see that state (and eventually federal) governments are pushing the EV agenda, you are a blind SOB. Hell, multiple states are planning to outlaw ICE by between 2035-2050.

I have no problem with anyone buying an EV if they so choose. But don’t force me to buy a vehicle I don’t want.

He's too stupid and dishonest to admit that some of the same tactics used by this admin to push EV's are from the same playbook as gun-control loons. They aren't going to mandate EV purchase, but they will make owning an ICE vehicle as expensive and onerous as possible. Same vein as gun-control advocates say they don't want to ban civilian gun ownership but constantly agitate for policies that make being a gun owner more expensive, put FFL's out of business, and try to restrict classes of firearms that can be owned.

Again, show me how you have been forced to buy an EV.

It really is pretty unlikely that computer glitches will occur as often as human glitches do....computers and technology have replaced humans in far more risky activities than driving. Surgery is a pretty good example. It is actually pretty amazing it has taken this long for it too happen....

I enjoy long drives. It’s relaxing. I have no interest in turning that over to a computer.

The self driving tech is not reliable enough yet.

The question is if it is, on average, more reliable than humans. If you drive around much the answer is probably no. You can't sling a dead cat without hitting a driver doing something stupid. Its unlikely to be worse than that....

Its proven multiple times a day that humans aren't close to perfect when it comes to driving. It is unlikely a machine will do it worse than a human.

The question is how much input will humans have? If the idiots that think its a good idea to go 15 MPH than the flow of traffic when the flow of traffic is already doing 10 over the speed limit are able to tell their self driving car to do that its going to be a mess. If, on the other hand, the tech is sensible, that will not be possible. I suspect it will be possible because its an easy enough thing to do to disconnect a cell phone that is moving more than 5 MPH or so but we don't do it....

You’re apparently both blind and stupid.

The Biden administration on Wednesday finalized one of the most significant pieces of its ambitious climate agenda: the strongest new tailpipe rules for passenger cars and trucks that will decisively push the US auto market toward electric vehicles and hybrids.

CNN article dated 3/20/24

Environmental Protection Agency proposed a fast ramp-up into EVs — a rule that would have ensured two-thirds of all vehicles sold were electric by the end of this decade - last year

The rule “requires a precipitous shift from around 8% market share of battery electric vehicles today to more than half by 2032

Took 15 seconds to find that.

If you really want to get into it Transportation dept

If it cut down on insane drivers on the interstate by 10% that would be a serious improvement.

Eventually it will get there, but until it does the ability to anticipate problems will still be important.
