California has about 8 million acres of farmland, and produced about $1.3B in hay & haylage. Kansas meanwhile has about 28 million acres of farmland (more than North Dakota, so I expect an apology) and only produced about $700 million in hay & hayage.

In other words, California is just better and more efficient at farming. Kansas is making junk corn to make ethanol and feed livestock. It is no where near "feeding the world"

What point are you all trying to prove? Nobody says California AG isn't impressive. However, they definitely don't "feed the world" when you look at the weighting of the types of crops grown.

2022 dollars - looks like mostly fruits and nuts to me? These things drive dollars and don't grow well in Kansas.

nuts - 8.1b
fruits - 3.1b
vegetables - 3.4b
rice - 561m
beef and veal - 494m
cotton -467m

All other 3.6b

Yeah, not like 2/3 of the world basically survives on rice... a crop that basically is not grown in Kansas.

Kansas produces a lot of corn that is used... to make ethanol. Try drinking ethanol and see if you can survive on it, son.

The whole argument is dumb, but it started with the "Kansas feeds the world" comment as if some moral virtue is to be ascribed to Kansas because of its role in agriculture. As with most online arguments where people aren't really having detailed substantive discussions of topics, it devolved from there.
