One thing to consider is to see how much one would cost that is street legal.

Depending on your area, it may be illegal if it doesn’t have turn signals or brake lights.

Some places like Grand Isle use the golf cart registration process as a gold mine for revenue.

I think it is 150 dollars a year to register for a golf cart tag on the island and you have to abide by certain rules.

In the city of New Orleans, some entrepreneurs are running golf carts in the city streets and they are registered with state taxi plates with running lights.

Yea I would never attempt GI beach with a led acid cart. A buddy made the led acid to gas switch. I’m pretty confident in my lithium setup taking it on, i just have to go test it out.

Kandi is the brand. Don’t know much about them but there is a FB group for them too. They did just come out with a model with forward facing rear seats but idk how long that makes them.

Mine is a 72v conversion among other things but I can do 45 and pull wheelies if I want. Can also probably go 60+ miles on mostly flat lands and normal speeds. I never checked but I hardly have to charge it when I take it out hunting.

That’s exactly what I want. Beefed up. The quiet of electric but tough too.

Spend the money and just buy nice Yamaha. You won't regret it.

Don’t buy from Ascension Golf Carts. Shitty service. We spent $20,000 on ours and it’s not worth it. Service after the sale is nonexistent. They got my money and that’s all they care about.

Screw it….don’t the money….have a friend take you to the country club around. While a foursome is fooling around with beverage cart girl, steal bags cart and all and drive off.

What are they going to do, run your tags?

I just bought a black Epic E40L and love it. Top speed is 25 MPH. I don't max it out the whole time when going to downtown BSL but it's about 10 miles round trip from our camp and usually takes up 40-50% battery life. The soundbar that comes with it is awesome too. For the most part ours will only get used on weekends so I was told by a friend to avoid gas.

Was bouncing back and forth last month between the same model you got and a 2020 Yamaha.

I went with the Yamaha because both dealers that I talked to said getting parts for the EPIC was a nightmare. They are so backed up that the minimum timeframe to get some of the most basic parts is a month minimum. Now, that may just be in my area but I didnt like the way that sounded.

Went with gas because I can replace the entire engine for less that what replacing those batteries is going to run. AND changing batteries isnt a matter of IF, its a matter of WHEN.

And 10 miles sucking 40-50% battery life doesnt sound great in comparison. I bought my Yamaha at the beginning of March and filled it up with gas. We ride it around the neighborhood for 30ish minutes at least 4 times a week with the kiddos and I still have 2-3s of a tank...

Paid $7500. Street legal with turn signals, horn, seat belts, and mirrors. They threw in a sound bar and rear cupholders/ armrests as well. Topped out at 28mph…. So far

Day I brought it home...There have been upgrades since

That’s why I bought mine stock off a baw on the OB and did the work myself. Learned how and now if there are issues I can fix it at home or in the field.

Cheep engine hoist from harbor freight and I don’t even need help pulling the battery

Same. I can slide up close to the hunting stand without making a bunch of racket. Still makes a little clink and clack but nothing like an atv. Navitas brushless 5kw motor swap and controller with a 72v 150ah lithium. Mid 30s is fast enough I wanted max range so I don’t have to worry about hills or sand draining it too fast. So far so good other than shitty BMS electronics in the battery. Early adopter of it and that company went belly up but I can fix the issues myself now.

Got my Yamaha from Mr. Gil at Golf Car Junkies as well. He's a good man and definately provides service after the sale. We have around 10 guys at Hattiesburg CC that have Yamaha's from there.

For crossing the berm and getting to a spot it’s no big deal, just recharge them when you get back to the camp.

Can’t or I don’t go cruising up and down the beach bc I don’t want to run out of battery. That’s the main reason why I wish I bought a SxS instead.

But if we need to go somewhere else while on the beach I just jump over to the streets and traverse the island that way.

If you can get a lithium it takes 1/2 the time to charge, no water, can convivence charge, lighter/smaller, longer range and more pep.

Damn

Ok so lithium for sure.
well you say that, but a ton of these lithium battery companies are just garage operations that buy a container of Chinese lithium batteries that dont have the requirements of the power draw of a gof cart. And they dont last. The ones that do are even more expensive.

Yep but there are some that have been around a little bit now and have a good rep. Ecco battery is one that I would look at..roypow and allied had a rocky start but I think they are better now...there are a cpl others that have been around for a bit too but the names escape me atm. You could also just get your own direct from china if you wanted for less if you were ok with going at it alone. As long as they use good cells and BMS there shouldn't be many issues...the BMS is usually what goes out it seems but you can replace them. One thing to look for is the amps they can give and for how long. Stock cart 1-200 amps is ok but you really want a little more. Once you start swapping motors you need to be able to feed it more.

If I was just going around GI and up and down the beach thats a direction I would go or at least gas cart. I wanted electric for the stealth for hunting and for riding around the area around my house that not in a neighborhood.

With how much golf carts cost I don’t understand why more people don’t buy a side-by-side. Cost of replacing the batteries is insane too. Definitely find a used.

Smaller footprint, lighter, quiet, smaller turning radius. Just depends on the use case, they all have their place.

Baw make sure you get those shiny rims and that there is Bluetooth.
I know exactly what you are all driving out there. Probably have lights underneath it also. Maybe even your teams colors on the side. Your wife drives the kids to school in it.
