I am not as well versed as others just a fan of the program but always just chalked it to scholarship limitations. Arkansas is not remotely as strong at distance events as they used to be, but the sec is generally weaker at those events so Arkansas has always eaten up points at conference meets to push them over the top.

The real issue is Todd lane not giving LSU the points it used to have in jumps-especially post Boo Schnexnyder era. We sign quality jumpers but they rarely develop under Todd lane. When Boo came back is when LSU put up incredible numbers across more events than just sprints.

LSU is still well put together for nationals but Arkansas women have evolved and really have an insane 400m, 400m hurdle and 4x400 system on top of being much stronger in sprints than the past. In fact their Olympian 400m runner is an lsu transfer. We’d run away with the national title if we had her. Our 4x400 has already put up a 3:26 without her

Plus there is a lot more parity in sprints than there used to be. Henry’s model is not even remotely the same as he normally has some incredible jumps mixed in with middle distance runners.

I do really like LSU’s middle distance coach. He’s done a bang up job with distance and cross country. However Shaver for better or worse has his system. There is probably a reason Yush left LSU for Alabama to coach throws (giving him more scholarship opportunity)
