Exactly what we have been hearing in north. Central Alabama for about 8 days now. It is so loud it is mind numbing. However, after about 5 minutes on a walk I hardly notice it.

6" of rain last week in SWLA has brought nothing but mosquitos. I look forward to the cicadas. As long as they don't bite.

Last night I could hear a few. Followed up by a bullfrog calling the girl frogs.
It was beautiful.
It was beautiful.

My neighborhood in Nashville is deafening. We haven't really had much dirt turned in a few decades, and they are out in force. My 3 and 5 years old absolutely love playing with them. I came outside the other day to find the three year old with a couple dozen crawling on her that she had placed on herself.

My free ranging chickens can hardly wait. Lol
In the Laffy area and from what I read we won’t see near as much of the non common ones as we were told. At least down here, further north yes.

When I first started hearing them a week or so ago here in southern Virginia, I thought that it sounded like a bearing going bad on someone's AC unit that was a few blocks away. But after a few days, it got louder and I finally figured out that it was all the cicadas - It really is amazing!

Been going on here in Columbus, GA for the past 2 weeks. Sounds like someone’s house alarm is going off in the backyard.

There is something about cicadas that fires up my inner child. From their cool skeletons to the loud music to the bumbling around to seeing birds feast on them. Just a cool nature feature.
