has anyone on this board ever seen northern lights in Alabama ? or anywhere for that matter?

Never seen them myself before, and I can't recall ever hearing of them being recorded as far south as Alabama either.

I know they have gotten as far south as Virginia. Not sure when the last time was, but there are reports of them in December 1862. There was an aurora visible the night after the Battle of Fredericksburg. Soldiers from the lower latitudes believed it was a sign from God either supporting their cause or condemning them all for the number of deaths inflicted during the battle.

this is actually a big deal. Just had a 6th one this morning, it's possible they'll upgrade this to being the most powerful solar storm since we've been using instruments (~100 years).

Imagine a "Carrington Event" type situation today. That's just what we need to pile on with the rest of this clown world.
