My smoke alarms in the house went off last night in the middle of the night randomly and shut off after a couple of seconds. It happened again this evening. They are the first alert detectors.

Some have chirped in the past and I’ve replaced the battery. I do see two of them blinking red every couple of seconds and some are a solid green. Searching online says it could be a couple different things.

Anyone have an issue like this before?

I have. They go bad after about 7-10 years and may need to be replaced. You could first blow it out with compressed air, could be dust on the sensor. That may save you some money

Had mine do this recently. Ended up being the end of life chirp. Change them ALL. I changed one and then a few months later another one would do it then another one.

Change all batteries at one time, use Energizer's, they are the best. If it starts back up, after a few weeks or months, replace all of them. You get around 10-15 years on them, some less. They will have a manufacturer date on them.

If you get to the point to replace all, use like kind, same type, makes it easier.

This is what you do when you have to replace a garbage disposal, all the plumbing will line up.
