A basic fundamental of first base play is to be in the best possible position to catch any throw tot he base regardless of whether another player makes a less than perfect throw. Its clear looking at the video just posted that if Jones had his right foot on the inside corner of the base with his height he very likely catches the ball. At worse he would have been in better position to step off the base toward home plate and catch the ball and the game is only tied.

There is no reaction time on a ball that fast coming from that distance. The throw was bad. Stop trying to blame Jones.
