Freeze the video at the point where the ball disappears from view and the runner is two steps from the base. At that point with his right foot on the base he may have been able to stretch far enough to get the out. Even if he had to leave the bag he would still be leading with his gloved hand and would have been able to catch it and attempt a sweep tag. There would be no reason for him to be in the base line if he jumps out and catches the ball.

You don’t get the point. Even if him stretching with his right foot allows him to make this play, it’s fundamentally incorrect. He is supposed to square up to the catcher and receive the ball away from the foul line. This isn’t a play the first baseman is supposed to be going into a stretch to catch the ball.

It’s dumb to think he should have been out of position to make up for Milazzo’s error

Y’all know it is possible for both to have made a mistake?
