he's basically admitting to himself that these were all witchhunts before they even happened.....but he still is pulling for the witchhunts to have better corrupt witnesses.

The mistake you are making is forgetting that Bill Maher is first and foremost an entertainer. He has an audience that is probably 2/3 progressive. Everytime he attacks a left wing position he inoculates himself by attacking Trump. This is him doing his best to speak the truth without losing his audience.
The drive to condemn everyone who is not completely on your side is foolish. The best we will get, in a host of a show with a Progressive audience, is Bill Mahere. I’m grateful for him. Just as the best we will get in a Maine Senator is Susan Collins. Although she will sometimes disappoint, I am grateful she is keeping that seat in the Republican caucas.
