They haven’t stung me in the hand, I’m sure that hurts. But I got stung by a yellow jacket twice a few summers ago and I was surprised how little it hurts compared to a wasp.

I find that Wasp stings burn more than they hurt. It feels like someone puts a live cigarette out on the sting site.
