In February, 1861, Texas legislators voted overwhelmingly to leave the Union, 166 to 7. It was the most lopsided vote for secession in any state in the lower South, with the sole exception of South Carolina.

I'm pretty sure Texas gets the lifetime pass in the SEC.

By that logic Kentucky isn’t an SEC school and the large secessionist population in NYC would mean CUNY should get a conditional admission to the SEC.

Agree with this culturally and perhaps regionally. Texas and Florida are their own special "southern". But still, their style and fans are really a lot different than the deep south's.
