This team isn't built to win anything as it stands.

That's just silly, unless your standers are title or bust. That's unrealistic to the point of being irrational for a team in a city like Nola with our ownership and injury luck.

That depends on what we get back for BI.
Obviously I meant for a top draft pick like we were discussing.

Yes or no, would that be a rebuild?

You laughably calling it "personal attacks" says otherwise.

But given you called trading BI for a top draft pick a rebuild, it seems exaggerating is par for the course for you in this thread.

Trading BI for a draft pick if asked in a vacuum? I’d lean yes more than no. He’s your number two player for a draft pick. That’s the epitome of rebuilding through the draft by getting rid of a cornerstone piece.

Oh well then yeah especially in this draft. We would be lighting an asset on fire most likely, with the outlier hope being that the person we pick ends up as good as Ingram in 3 to 5 years.

That is going backwards, with the hope that the new asset improves, which is rebuilding.

Therefore, you asked a bad question for a binary response, given the output of the trade is along a spectrum of results.

Lol do you talk like this on a normal basis when talking about sports with people? It just seems like you’re trying really hard here to sound smart so you somehow can win the argument.

Rebuild to me is getting rid of all your stars and building through the draft. Trading BI for a pick is not really a rebuild especially since hes not your best player.

This is where you keep screwing up. He doesn’t NEED to be better than BI he just needs to fit better than BI and make our team better. I just don’t understand how you don’t get this??

So I didn't mis-state your argument, I was used it word for word, you said it would be a rebuild and just confirmed that. No mis-stating done.

This year was a historic year for the WCF. Any other year we would be a top 4-5 easily. So there is some data that says we’re built to win now. But here’s the problem with that, the West is going to be even better next year. You can’t sit on your hands. BI is wayyy more tradable than CJ but you still have two problems to fix. And you’re not going to get 100% guarantee production at both.

I just don’t think, unless they throw in Dyson, Nance, maybe even Hawkins + multiple firsts that they’re going to get an answer for Center and Point Guard. If you’re talking JUST BI and some picks you’re going to be looking at a sure fire starter and upgrade at Center and the draft pick with only the slight chance of that pick at PG being the one that hits

I do

I'm talking about total impact. It's HIGHLY unlikely a top 5 pick in this draft sniffs the impact BI has, especially in our window.

Jordan Hawkins should just get more run.

Hell, I was shitting on a return of Suggs earlier ,but he'd be so much better than 5 in this draft. For how much he has underwhelmed, we know what he is.

You also have to understand they’re escaping the money BI will make if they go through the trade for draft pick route. That should hopefully free up some cash to sign guys to fill those holes.

But it's a fact that the West is tough, so you can't say we're built to win now if the West wasn't so good.

The West IS that good, and that is a reason why we aren't remotely close.

You can't be watching these playoff games and thinking we're built to compete with these teams... and it's only the 2nd round. We are so far away from these teams, not close at all.

Which makes the argument to take a step back even stronger. I'm not even saying this is the best thing we absolutely need to do, I'm saying I see the reasons for it.

We're not close to competing. And BI likely doesn't have enough value to get the true #2 realistically speaking, so there may not be a trade for BI that gets us in that conversation with those teams.

BI NEGATIVELY impacts this team if its centered around Zion. So you don’t understand. Lot of the trade BI argument is contract based but a majority of it is fit based. You’re completely ignoring that factor and not addressing it. Instead you want the same impact as BI regardless of fit.

I think the point is…and I’m assuming here…is that the addition of not just the 5th but also the really good player we would get in the trade, would equate to being better than whatever the frick Willie was trying to do at center this year + an underwhelming season from BI.

You’re kind of only taking the 5th pick into consideration. BI will get a stable player at Center or PG. They’re just not getting sure fire answers at both. Just one.
