Former resident of Allen here, would go back in a heart beat if my parents didn't need help. If I can find a decent job and a house with granny flat, I'm leaving Lafayette as soon as possible.

I can deal with the traffic and big city as long as there's plenty of jobs and a government that is functioning. Something every place in Louisiana lacks.

Thats where we are. Love it and we aren't moving. Its already built out, everything we need is 15 minutes away, no traffic, great schools and phenomenal parks and rec centers. It has a great small-town feel. Every house I've seen go up for sale is gone in a week for over asking price so it's very stable.
