Wasn’t tournament performance a significant factor in us hosting regionals

no, we were a top 8 seed 6 years in a row and 8 total times under Paul. The one year we hosted without being a top 8 seed, we won 17 SEC games which gets hosts all the time. We had a top 16 RPI on selection Sunday. 2014 was maybe the only year where we went from simply hosting a regional to a national top 8 by winning the SECT

years under Paul:

2008: #7 national seed, finished 2nd in the SEC, won SECT
2009: #3 national seed, won the SEC and SECT
2010: did not host, finished 15-15 in SEC won SECT
2011: missed SECT and NCAAT
2012: #7 national seed, won SEC
2013: #4 national seed, went 23-7 in the SEC and finished 2nd, won SECT
2014: #8 national seed, finished 4th in SEC at 17-11-1, won SECT
2015: #2 national seed, won SEC, lost in semis of SECT
2016: #8 national seed, finished 5th in SEC, lost in semis of SECT
2017: #4 national seed, won SEC and SECT
2018: did not host, finished 15-15 in SEC, lost in finals of SECT
2019: #13 national seed, went 17-13 in SEC, lost in SECT semis
2020: COVID
2021: did not host, went 13-17 in SEC, went 0-1 in SECT

I doubt Florida gets swept but I could absolutely see georgia winning 2 of 3 and then it would all depend on a Tuesday game for florida and they haven’t been very good at those.

Jay will never duplicate this. PM did this with only kids out of hs. Transfer portal as a whole is going to kill lsu baseball.
