The greatest sports broadcaster in history is defending the greatest Saints quarterback in history.

quote:

Joe Buck, long-time NFL play-by-play announcer with Fox and more recently ESPN, believes Brees should get another chance.

“I think Drew Brees got a raw deal,” Buck said on Richard Deitsch’s Sports Media podcast. “And if there’s anybody who was ever created in a computer to be a top analyst at a network, I think it’s Drew Brees and I would love to see him get another chance at that. . . . He got one game, and he was working with a new crew and a new play-by-play guy and everybody expects brilliance. You make one comment, and it gets its own life on social media. It’s just ridiculous.”

Tony Romo ruined it for others. He took to color commentary like a fish to water and now everyone expects other retired QBs to be like him.

Tony has a personality. Drew has the personality of a stiff sock under your bed.

It's not like Collinsworth has this amazing personality though. Or even Aikman.

I do think Drew got railroaded a bit. Will be interesting to how Tom Brady does.

BTW does anybody know what the "one comment" was?

Florio seems to allude to it being during the Raiders @ Bengals playoff game that Drew called.

Aikman comes across as a guy who took a few too many shots to the head, IMO.

I don’t know Aikman will say some half joking half snarky stuff times and I legit laugh. I think he has a pretty decent dry sense of humor.

Romo was also fortunate enough to be paired with Nance. A Hall of Fame broadcaster like that can help mask a lot of early growing pains.

These same ppl think Brady is going to be great. Fox automatically made him the color man on the lead team and he has never done it. But ppl suck on his nuts so much even if he bombs they will still claim he is great.

He had a personality with Cincinnati and right when he started broadcasting, Sir.

Drew was awful. Period. Doesn't change what he did on the field.

Well I say
quote:

Joe Buck says

Joe Buck need to give Drew Brees his job or STFU. Sometimes people need to stay in their own lane. He has absolutely no idea what went on with Drew and broadcast. Maybe he pulled his dick out? Maybe he used a racial slur? Maybe he defended his Grandfather and the American Flag again? Maybe he wore Jacob Blake on his helmet? who knows

I get the feeling Brady is going to be really bad but that’s just a hunch.

Drew wasn’t bad at the broadcasting. I thought he needed another year or two and would have been just fine.

I liked him in the booth for the college games. I think he needs to do what most former players do and go call some college games to get experience then move up to the big time. He super rich though, so I don’t know how motivated he is to do that.
