Anyone have any experience with these?
Mainly concerned about after warranty maintenance costs. Salesman told me the hybrid battery cost $3000 to replace after the warranty expires.

I would consider a regular Honda Accord but not the hybrid.

I have a 2024 touring hybrid. I’m three months into it, and it has been a great vehicle so far. I am averaging 47 miles per gallon.

Just make a spreadsheet with how many miles you expect to drive while it's under warranty, then compute how much gas money you would save. Use that number to assess your risk tolerance.

We have a sport hybrid. It's a nice car. Only have 12k miles so not really any experience with maintenance except the dealership not being able to figure out how to do the damn firmware update and now always having a "system needs to update" message every time we start the car.

The sound the car makes when the electric motor is on is funny though.

That’s a good idea except my company pays for my gas so there’s no benefit there for me until I leave the company

A fantastic car. Honda hybrid system is super solid. Hybrid battery warranty is 8 yrs/100,000 miles. Top 10 car, top safety pick in class.

I have a 2022 Honda Accord Hybrid Sport, which is the older sportier looking body style. Easiest car ever to drive. Just recently replaced the battery.

Low battery had my brake system all messed up while there was no issue. Dude said the weak battery messes up the sensors communicating to the computer.

I will preface this by saying that I have little long-term experience with Honda hybrids specifically, but worrying about the battery in a modern hybrid vehicle is fairly meaningless unless you're planning to keep the car forever and drive it until it will not function anymore.

Source: I sold higher-mileage used cars in cold-arse hard-on-batteries Montana for almost 9 years, including probably 100 Toyota hybrids that I personally sold, and I/we rarely ever ever ever had any issues with them regardless of conditions or mileage. I do recall a few high-mileage older Accord Hybrids that were still solid cars, even with close to 200k miles.

We all know Honda makes a damn good car, so if their hybrids are as good as Toyota's, you should be able to get to AT LEAST 200,000 miles before you experience any issues.

Honda has had its bouts with production issues just like every OEM in the past 30 years. The first Honda I owned was a 2005 bought new, and it was the car that taught me that extended warranties could actually be worth the money on modern new cars.

Get what you're happy with, and Honda is one of the OEMs that lets various dealers around the country sell its FACTORY extended warranties at a deep discount online. We're talking like $2-$3k less than what your local dealer will sell it for. Buy your Honda and then dig around for the best deal on a factory - NOT third party - warranty.

Just curious, is the hybrid the same price as a non-hybrid?

If not, how long until the fuel savings make up the difference?

Only if the battery fails - similar to an engine
I don’t understand the hate about battery powered cars and I drive a v8
Eventually everything fails

I’ve had to replace the battery four times in my current Honda Accord and it’s only seven years old. Since the hybrid battery would cost me $3000 it is definitely a concern. I drive roughly 30,000 miles per year so at that rate the warranty would be expired in under four years.

Own a 21 that we bought new. Currently has 53k miles. Only thing besides routine maintenance that we have had to do was replace the normal car battery which was replaced under warranty.

We have a Touring model, so it comes with the bigger factory wheels which affects the MPG. With that said, we have averaged right at 43 MPG combined over those 53k miles with zero sign of any battery degradation.

Only complaint with the car is that the gas tank is really small, (only 12.8 gallons), and the damn thing doesn’t tell you which tire is low when the a tire needs air. You just get a warning indicator that you have a low tire.

Other than that, we love the car.

We recently looked at a new one, but not a fan of the new styling.

Did he give this estimate to you with a written contract to honor this price? If not, you’re an idiot for even posting this information here.

I’ll hang up and listen.

2020 Touring Hybrid. Great car, no complaints. Also, the hybrid battery worry is overblown. Think of it like a transmission. Basically the same warranty length and same cost to replace.

Then I don't understand what the issue is. If you are not paying for gas why would you pay more for a hybrid?..seems like a no brainier to get the regular Accord , save money and be done
