I could swear that the first Lord of the Rings movie was available...I watched about an hour one night...the next day it was gone...do they get movies available for a limited basis?

It seems that way. Some movies seem like they are on instant for like only a month others seem like they stay on instant forever.

I guess it depends on what contracts they have with the studios but there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to their instant selection process.

The Winning Season was very good. Familiar story but it works. Better than most of the watch instantly junk.

Fright Night

Just rewatched this - hadn't seen it in years. Classic...so much great 80's cheese and still so much better than the remake. Marcy D'Arcy as the teenaged love interest.

The Swamp Thing

Classic buddy crime comedy.

Cobra. Classic Stallone.

The Best of Times. Classic sports movie.

In 1972, the Taft High School football team challenged its archrival in a game to end all games -- and might have won if Jack "Butterfingers" Dundee (Robin Williams) hadn't dropped the ball. Still haunted years later, Jack cooks up a rematch to settle old scores. His old friend and quarterback (Kurt Russell) agrees to go along with the harebrained plan, but winning will be an uphill battle. Roger Spottiswoode directs this sports comedy.

Actually watched an instant movie over the weekend.

Woman of Straw is a 1964 British thriller staring Sean Connery fresh off the success of From Russia With Love his second Bond film. Was worried about being typecast so he jumped at the chance to star in a more duplicitous role.

In this one Connery is the nephew of a filthy rich but contemptuous, misogynist & racist uncle. Such a nasty piece of work is his uncle that one day after his dogs whom he abuses bite him he hires a nurse. A very sexy nurse(Italian sex symbol Gina Lollobrigida)whom he doesn't treat very well but develops strongly attraction to.

So naturally Connery hatches a plot with her to get at the old man's money. And well like all thrillers things don't go according to plan.

Available in HD on streaming and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality for a 60s movie.

Just watched this: very good movie.

Red

When it becomes apparent that the three teenage miscreants who murdered his dearly loved dog, Red, won't be held accountable for their senseless deed, the normally reclusive and affable Avery Ludlow (Brian Cox) resolves to take matters into his own hands. Trygve Diesen and Lucky McKee direct this disquieting thriller that also stars Tom Sizemore, Robert Englund, Richard Riehle, Noel Fisher and Amanda Plummer.
