Ronnies, Jerry Lees, and Bergeron's say hi
They are the only good east of Atchafalaya options I've found.

Rare Cuts on Magazine. I think they sell Creole Country.
Creole Country's boudin isn't good. And if you buy it at Rare Cuts, it will be hella expensive. I do like Creole Country's hogs head cheese.
You can find a few places in NOLA that sell LeBlanc's, but I don't like that either.
I go to Scott every 3 months or so and load up on it. I buy it frozen and it's not as great as hot and fresh, but it beats not having any at all.

Ronnies is virtually the same recipe as Best Stop in Scott. Its good. Smoked boudin is better and almost exact as Best Stop. Reg boudin just seems to have more salt. Otherwise texture and consistency is same as Best Stop which is considered a good place by most here.
The BEST AND I DID SAY BEST boudin balls in the state.
really not a fan of Jerry Lees and Bergerons is ok.

I'm not much of a fan of Best Stop's.. It's overrated.

Pretty much what Cleaver and Co and Rare Cuts are. Butcher too, I mean, it does kill it (boudin preferences aside). Rare Cuts might sell Creole Country, but if you call them they will source pretty much anything you ask them to. Dunno if you'd be getting anything you wouldn't otherwise be able to just get delivered yourself though.

I think what he is talking about is not as high end as Rare Cuts.

Well thats fine that you believe that but the description gives the hordes of others viewing this board that are big fans of Best Stop an idea of what they would get as its from the same fam.

NOLA needs a traditional cajun meat market. Not another nose in the sky meat market.

Exactly. I agree.
I would love another seafood market nearby too. I like to fix fish fillets for dinner and Rouse's surprisingly has crap most of the time. I could go to Bucktown or Dennis' but they are just kinda out the way for me. I miss Calandro's for that.

I see. Yeah if you dropped a Scott-area boudin shop (take your pick I don't want to make the natives restless) franchise somewhere Uptown on Magazine so tourists could get to it, you could prob retire at a young age if you chose to.

Langensteins used to have a decent selection, I remember getting Amberjack there regularly, but I moved 2 years ago so IDK the current state of operations. More food markets the better as far as I'm concerned though, for sure.

F that noise. Put it somewhere where I can get to it!
Posted on 5/2/13 at 11:49 am to Winkface
Where you at? I figured you were Uptown if Bucktown is out of the way.

Metairie, near Clearview and Vets.
Not super out the way...whatever, I'm lazy.

Maybe they'll open one in the defunct Serrano's. I have no room to talk, I am in Metry right now visiting cause that's where my folks live. :doublecasty:

We've discussed this before, I don't think they taste remotely the same

I promise you I have likely had both Ronnies and Best Stop more than most people on this site. Aside form salt levels the boudin is virtually identical. If you gave me two links of smoked boudin from each place it would be nothing but a guess from me as to who it belongs to. I pretty much grew up on Best Stop boudin. Ronnies has been the spot for me to go to while in BR for 7 years. Ronnies Boudin balls blow best stops away though and the cracklin is better there too. I give Best Stop an edge on reg boudin as Ronnies needs to lower amount of salt.
BTW Why not open a Cajun Meat AND Fresh Seafood Market. That would be a killer combo.
